There's an established lore about cowboy code that's wrapped in a great Western package!
But isn't that part of the fun? And when I work the wild west in historicals or the vast contemporary west of today, I tap into more than a great pair of Chaps and a perfectly formed Resistol hat...
I tap into the heart and soul of the matter. The hero. The heroine. The people surrounding them, the setting, the wide open plains or the rolling verdant hills...
But the heart and the soul of the hero and heroine are the crux of the story.
Sometimes they're funny.
Sometime's they're nailed to a wall of their own bad choices, looking through that glass darkly...
They're people, like you and me. Only probably taller and thinner, LOL! But their struggles are our struggles, and the difference I see is that they don't quit. And that's what I love to see in my heroes... And my heroines.
Fight the good fight.
Learn to love yourself, forgive yourself and move one.
Jesus told the accused woman, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more."
If he can forgive us, then we've got to be strong enough to hang on tight! And forgive ourselves!
Hey, I'd love to add folks to my growing newsletter list, so let me know if I can add your name to it, and if you leave a comment below, I've got a couple of copies of "Back in the Saddle" to give away this weekend.
Are you tougher on yourself than you should be? Or tougher on others?
There's coffee on and hot cross buns! Let's chat.
And I'd love to pick your name out of the cowboy hat this weekend!
